She was born in Nicosia and studied speech therapy at St. Johns University in New York.

She practiced the profession for a number of years, but her love of fashion and a long-standing avocation in the field on an amateur basis prompted her to go overseas to study Fashion Design at St. Martins School of Arts in London.
